I'm taking part in a global movement called Savesoil which partly addresses this issue by bringing focus to restoring fertility to agricultural lands. If we introduce organic matter into soils, we can make them more productive without demanding more virgin lands to develop.

I think we human beings can come up with better solutions to our self created problems but only if we become more conscious of our existence as a part of Planet Earth.
