Welcome to The Bight
The world is a big place and this community is here to help you understand it just a little bit better. Each week, we deliver thoughtful, insightful, and interesting articles, videos, and community posts with the singular goal to bring a little bit of geography into your life and make you think about things in a way that you might not normally think about them.
What exactly is geography?
Geography is not really a science, nor is it entirely a philosophy. And it’s definitely NOT learning the state capitals. No, geography is a way of viewing the world. It’s the way in which we make the spatial and temporal connections. Its the study of the linkages between people, animals, environments, industries, and everything else on the planet.
Geography is a mineral being mined in one country, refined and manufactured in another, and delivered in a third.
Geography is a city being established on a river centuries ago, becoming an industrial metropolis decades ago, and ultimately becoming an economic centerpiece for an entire country today.
Geography is what you eat, who you see, and where you’re planning on going today.
Geography is everything because, at the end of the day, we’re all connected by space and time right here on this planet we call Earth.
This is what geography is and this is what The Bight is all about.

After all, what’s the point if we just have AI telling us about the world?
