It kind of is, minus the high speed rail. Almost every other major Amtrak train connects through Chicago. It's a huge missed opportunity that more isn't being done with it though.
Daytime service to Ohio and Indiana? Fort Wayne? Louisville? Green Bay? The Great River will increase service to Milwaukee and St. Paul-but then you would have to take a tram to Target Field to get the future train to Duluth
