What a great read. I’ve enjoyed both sets of lakes, and as different as those experiences were, understanding the why makes it all the more fun.

Enjoyed the article. I grew up north of Lake Huron's Georgian Bay and now, as an octogenarian, have spent most of my life in Chicago. I frequently joke that I'm from the the other side of 'the lake', insofar as Michigan and Huron are one lake, and at roughly 44K square miles should be at the top of the leader board. Just saying…

One thing regarding the Nile Perch I wondered about: if that fish (as an apex predator) has wiped out so many of the other fish, what is the Nile Perch eating now? As also featured in your (highly recommended!) video, the Nile Perch is quite abundant, and is now the reason for a vibrant fish export business.
